Physical risk, not transition risk

The Climate Risk Score measures physical risk: the damage extreme weather and a changing climate can do to real assets in real places. It is complementary to the ESG Risk Score and to transition-risk metrics such as carbon exposure, and it is designed to be read alongside them rather than in place of them.

In partnership with Mate

Mate S.r.l. is the first Italian university spin-off dedicated to physical climate risk, born out of the University School for Advanced Studies IUSS in Pavia. A team of physicists and engineers, Mate extracts data from dynamic downscaled climate models and combines it with local datasets, using probabilistic algorithms and engineering-based methods to evaluate the exposure and vulnerability of assets. Their models are published in peer-reviewed scientific papers, and their team has worked on international projects funded by the EU, the World Bank and the United Nations.
