ESG ratings under the new European Regulation 2024/3005

At the end of 2024, the European Union approved a new Regulation on the transparency and integrity of ESG rating activities, which will enter into force in mid-2026.

The Regulation aims to ensure that ESG ratings are independent, impartial, systematic, and reliable and contribute to the transparency of the sustainable finance market by clearly separating rating activities from advisory activities.

Thanks to this new regulatory definition, ESG ratings assume a central role in providing reliable and comparable information to support investment decisions, lending decisions, and corporate reputation assessments.

ESG Verify Ecomate - Step1

Analysis process

Ecomate analysts conduct a detailed analysis of the self-assessment questionnaires completed by companies. The process begins with a formal review of the registration and completeness of the information entered, ensuring a clear and consistent methodological basis. This is followed by an assessment of the internal consistency and reliability of the responses provided, with particular attention to the relationships between the various thematic areas and the degree of consistency and coherence of the reported data. To complete this process, analysts also conduct a document analysis of the materials uploaded to the platform, which strengthens, contextualizes, and consolidates the information reported by the company. These activities together form the basis for Ecomate's official ESG Rating, expressed as an independent and transparent assessment.
